Zuko was sitting across the table telling her about his greatest war victory. As appealing as it was to hear a tyrant drone on and on about robbing peoples’ freedoms, the words just seemed to roll over her head as she thought of a way to sneak out to the back door.

“…. So that’s how I conquered Ba Sing Se.” Zuko finished, and even as he was telling the whole story his eyes remained on the goddess of a girl across from him.

“Well Firelord, that was such a riveting story but,” she barely could stifle rolling her eyes, “I am afraid that I must retire for the night. We really must meet again sometime.”

“But, it’s not even that late!” he protested, positively shocked. He was getting tired of her leaving without his consent. Besides he had been enjoying his time with her much more than he probably should.

“I know.” She said in an annoyed tone, having enough. “Goodbye.” And before he could object any further, she got up from her seat and practically flew out the back door. He just sat there and stared at her in disbelief.

The three impatient teens waited anxiously outside of the back of the building.

“Where is she? The performance ended a half hour ago!” Aang said

“She’s probably chatting away with his royal arrogance.” Sokka said sarcastically.

“Will you just chill out? I feel some one approaching.” No sooner had the words left Toph’s mouth when the back was flung open by none other than Katara.

“Sorry, Zuko just kept going on and on about some war victory, I couldn’t get out fast enough.”

“Well at least you found a way out.” Aang said.

“I think I could help you water bend, Aang.” She began hesitantly. His heart rose.

“Really? Do you have an escape plan?”

“No, like I told you before, I can buy my freedom soon. I don’t want to risk it by trying a foolish escape.” She remembered when a few of her fellow dancers had tried to escape. They were all brought back and the money was taken away from their accounts completely.

“That or you’re really enjoying your time with Zuko.” Katara just shot a dirty look at Sokka, but just as she was about to make a come back, Aang spoke.

“So, we have to wait until you’re free to get training?”

“I didn’t say that.” He raised an eyebrow, “I can train you everyday after work at the nearby stream.”

“That would be great.” Aang replied eagerly.

“See you this time tomorrow?”

“You can bet on it, now lets leave before Azulon comes looking for you-”

In mid sentence the door opened and out walked Azulon. The gang had just enough time to leave before he saw them.
